Every year hundres of young people are employed by Swiss farmers in all parts of the country.
interconnections encourages such farmstays, participation in the life of farmers, and learning a bit about agriculture in general.
We shall also be able to find a place for you.
The non-profit making organisation of such placements has the financial and moral support of the Ministry of Culture, all the federal and cantonal governments, the County of Liechtenstein as well as of a number of agricultural bodies and foundations.
Important aims are bridging the gaps between town and country, various languages and cultures and the one between consumers and producers.
Chances are best, by the way, for everybody who can come outside the normal school holidays.
During the school holidays there are about 1500 boys and girls, young men and women, every year, taking part in this programme. With the aim of furthering international exchange and understanding about 500 internships of two months are also available to young applicants from abroad - from Western and Eastern Europe.
All participants together spend about 50.000 working days on the farms yearly.

Come to a farm
A farm is an independent business all around a family. The seasons and the weather determine work and life of the family.
Living and working on a farm means entering a new way of life, to learn a lot and to acquire new skills in the fields, in the stables, in the woods. You may learn milking, feeding, sawing, tractor driving, attend the birth of a calf or you mey help with household chores or minding the children. The house is the centre of everything - work, daily problems, leisure and the way to look at life. BR>
You will also discover the way our food takes before it finally arrives on our tables, you will take part in harvesting crops and vegetables, fruit picking etc. and you will also mind the kids and take your turn in general housework.

Take responsibility
To get away from your family for a while, without being isolated though, to live with other people you did not know before, but who trust you, to find your own way and take your own decisions, to discover a new country: all this is an expericence for life, which will develop your personality. On a farm you will see our food grow. It is a new experience to share everyday life with people, who speak a different language and who have different habits and ways of looking at things.
To learn to adapt and engage yourself is an important step towards independence and maturity. |

Take some fresh air ...
Physical, manual work, a fresh wind, new faces, away from all your studies and daily routine during the year, new ways: a farmstay will open an unknown world with different smells, a new rythm, new tasks and challenges.
Every year thousands of boys and girls, youg men and women decide to take part in these "active holidays" - which really have deserved this name - and lend a helping hand on a well chosen farm with tasks they never knew before, whether it be in spring, summer, autumn or winter.
Here you can discover daily all your strong points and you will also find out about your weak ones. You will learn by doing and give all the best. In the evening you will fall into bed, tired but happy - good for your head, your body and soul.
